Sedition is serious. If I'm Pelosi, I do this one simple thing...

Nancy should simply require everyone in the House, Democrats and Republicans, before they are seated, to declare whether or not they believe their own state elections were fraudulent. The Republicans that will be affected are those that come from WI, PA, AZ, GA, and MI.

The incoming members can declare that their election was free and fair, as has been found in over sixty court cases filed by Trump’s pathetic legal team, or they can declare that they believe their state election was fraudulent for whatever reason. Maybe these folks believe that dead people voted, although they can’t come up with one example. Maybe they believe that rules their Republican legislatures agreed to in order to make voting easier during a pandemic shouldn’t have been changed, although they didn’t complain until after the results were in---and in each case the final arbiter of the law, their respective state’s Supreme Court, upheld them as legitimate. Who knows? Who cares. They were elected by the same rules.

The bottom line is this, if they say that their state election was illegitimate and unfair, for whatever reason, then they cannot be seated until such questions are resolved. After all, these clowns were on the same ballot as Donald Trump, so if his ballots were compromised, obviously so were theirs.

This would in no way stop the Constitutional obligation to count the Elector’s votes on January 6th. There would have to be an objection in both houses of Congress for anything to stall beyond the two-hour time limit, and the House is not going to abide GOP shenanigans. However, we cannot, in good conscience, seat someone who feels that their own election victory was fraudulent. These incoming politicians shouldn’t want that either. So by all means, have any investigation you want to have. Take as long as you need. I heard Ted Cruz say 10 days. Maybe months. Who knows? Who cares.

The seat will be there whenever you are ready. I have a sneaking suspicion that once Biden is in office, while you and Trump aren’t, those ridiculous allegations you’ve been peddling might suddenly seem as stupid as they do to the rest of us.

As no no power to refuse to seat someone whose election has been certified pursuant to state law and meets the citizenship and age qualifications.

The Supreme Court resolved this a number of years ago.
