What are the odds Trump has talked to some Generals behind the scenes

for a military coup to keep him in office? I'd would say the odds are pretty high. I have no evidence of this, but based on Trumps behavior it definitely something he would do.

That is why the military put out some statements saying they honored the constitution,
not a person.

I’m guessing he’s hoping his supporters invade the Capitol on 1/6, giving him the pretext he needs to invoke the Insurrection Act. I’m hoping that they tell him that, although he can order them into the streets to “maintain order” (which, frankly, would be a legal order) until noon on 1/20, that’s all he can do, and they won’t be part of any scheme to “re-run” last November’s election in states he lost.

5. Trump hasn't shown any ability to plan or recruit allies or exercise any kind of foresight.

If he's secretly lining up co-conspirators to execute a coup, it will be the first time he's ever done anything remotely like that.

Trump never has a plan. He reacts to events then lurches from one thing to another, usually undercutting himself in the process.

Planning a military take over of the United States would require an awful lot of work and total silence by a lot of people. Trump could never orchestrate something that big and intricate.

At least that's what I hope.

Some of the flag officers he spoke with in private might want to avoid travel
by small aircraft for a while. They might want to avoid drinking tea as well.
