Sen. Josh Hawley says ‘Antifa scumbags’ terrorized his family’s Virginia home. Protesters say they held a peaceful vigil.

The activists said they had staged a peaceful vigil on Monday night to protest a GOP plan to object to Congress’s certification of the presidential electoral vote this week. On the sidewalk in a Northern Virginia suburb, a group of 15 people chanted while holding candles and signs saying, “Protect democracy.”

But Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) had a different description for the scene outside his family’s home in Fairfax County: “leftwing violence.”

“Tonight while I was in Missouri, Antifa scumbags came to our place in DC and threatened my wife and newborn daughter,” he wrote on Twitter late Monday. “They screamed threats, vandalized, and tried to pound open our door.”

Demonstrators with ShutDownDC, which organized the protest, told The Washington Post that they did not engage in vandalism or even knock on Hawley’s door. A 50-minute video shared by the group shows protesters writing in chalk on the sidewalk, chanting through a megaphone and at one point leaving a copy of the Constitution on Hawley’s doorstep.

Hawley and every other Republican deserves peaceful protest wherever they go. They should have no peace. Anywhere.

And as is said further down:

Peaceful protest is allowed anywhere.

Armed with chalk and a copy of the Constitution, no less.

they don't have town halls, the people have ZERO place to get their attention except at their homes. They forget they work for us and they need to respond to us. This is their own doing.

"Is this a new protest tactic?"

"No, protesters have long held demonstrations outside the homes of both public officials and private citizens, though the tactic certainly seems to have gotten more attention during the Trump administration. Back in 1970, hundreds of demonstrators went to the Watergate to protest a court verdict, choosing the home of a slate of Nixon officials and Republican legislators because the complex “symbolizes the ruling class.”

It's not a protest. It's a form of intimidation and harassment. It isn't right when our side does it, either.

There's the problem. After all, if they'd left a crucifix on Dracula's doorstop or propped a bucket of water above the Wicked Witch of the West's doorstop, they would have felt pretty threatened too!

Just taking a page out of the Orange national disgrace’s play book. Lying and using coarse language. We’re all proficient at using all kinds colorful language and many of us don’t hold back on here. That said, in the work place and other social settings etc, that kind of language is not appropriate and we all know the difference or at least we should.

Hopefully Joe and Kamala can do a reset going forward away from Trump’s despicable behavior.
