Fortunate Son

Some folks are born made to wave the flag
Ooh, they're red, white and blue
And when the band plays "Hail to the Chief"
Oh, they point the cannon at you, Lord

It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no Senator's son
It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no fortunate one, no

Some folks are born silver spoon in hand
Lord, don't they help themselves, oh
But when the tax men come to the door
Lord, the house look a like a rummage sale, yes

It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no millionaire's son, no, no
It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no fortunate one, no

Yeah, some folks inherit star spangled eyes
Ooh, they send you down to war, Lord
And when you ask them, "How much should we give?"
Oh, they only answer, more, more, more, yoh

It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no military son
It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no fortunate one

It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no fortunate one, no, no, no
It ain't me, it ain't me
I ain't no fortunate son, no, no

2. I love when companies use this song in commercials, not even knowing what it means.

"Let's use that CCR song that mentions waving the flag! It'll be perfect for our Memorial Day sale!"

May his karma finally catch up with him in a big way. And soon.

edit to include a dedication for those who served in his sorry ass' place:

the lyrics when he first played it. I was driving home from work listening in my '59 chevy when he 'premiered it'. After the song he literally choked on his bubble gum top 40 universe words and went to a commercial.

I don't think he ever understood what was going on outside of his radio station world.

JUST like Money Boo Boo.

The original is great too. The Cat Power cover is more introverted and melancholy. Her voice is fantastic. She brings out a different side of the lyrics, IMO. Clearly not your cup of tea.....

14. I see your point. But that song is a "In your Face" anti-establishment song. Soft version does...

I was involved in helping the protesting Indians on Alcatraz Island in San Francisco Bay back in 1969. The group gave the Indians exclusive use of their boat, the "Clearwater" to help them ferry themselves and supplies. It was just about the only way to get to the island at the time as most other boats going to the island were getting intercepted and their owners harassed.
