Libya attack: Congressmen casting blame voted to cut diplomatic security budgetQUOTES:
"Reps. Jason Chaffetz and Darrell Issa claim the Benghazi consulate sought more security before the deadly attack. They also both voted to cut the State Department's embassy security budget."
....and....
"Who's to blame for the Sept. 11 attack on the US consulate in Benghazi?"
....and....
"Who can be blamed for that? Well, Chaffetz and Issa among others.
Since retaking control in 2010, House Republicans have aggressively cut spending at the State Department in general and embassy security in particular. Chaffetz and Issa and their colleagues voted to pay for far less security than the State Department requested in 2011 and again this year."
These guys have a lot of nerve.

(28,347 posts)It was in an article about one of the difficulties the DOJ has in going after the financial industry; and their inability to hire/keep a forensic investigative staff.
I wish I had a link or remember where I read it because it was the first thing I thought of when I heard a couple of weeks ago that Congress under-funded the security budgets.
It's scary because what else have they under-funded and short-funded?
It sets the departments up to fail, and of course to blame the President - which is their ultimate goal.
Sadly, the consequences are very dangerous, and its results are deadly. I almost want to make them complicit in the Benghazi murders.

Hello everyone. This is my first post an hopefully I'll get to know some of you better in the future. Funny thing though, when I registered, I received a message congratulating me for joining a very liberal blog, but when I wanted to start a new thread, I wasn't allowed to because I haven't replied to any threads. Huh? Is this a trust issue with DU?

(11,138 posts)As for the posting rules, I don't know that I'd call it a trust issue per se, but it is an acknowledgement that often people will sign up here for the sole purpose of disrupting. There isn't much we can do to prevent that, but by requiring that a poster tally a few replies (the number was 10 last I checked) before posting an original OP we can at least try to get to know them a bit. I hope you don't find that too much an inconvenience; it has saved us many a headache over the years.
In any case dive right in, join some conversations. We are glad to have you.

(2,672 posts)To everyone that replied. I'm a Rabid Liberal (actually, that's my screen name on another blog) and I watch Comedy Central for news and Fox News for comedy, well, MSNBC too, Rachel Maddow and Chris Hayes are my favorites.
Some of the other blogs I belong to have been overrun with trolls, spewing hate and conservative propaganda. I mean, I believe in free speech but some of these trolls take it over the line and personally attack posters. Once in a while it's okay to engage with the opposition, but constant attacks can get rather tedious.
Good to be here. Later some personal insights into the fascist GOP (George Orwell's Prediction).

(13,485 posts)You'll find some ups and downs here too but not really anything to worry about. We have the MERT taking care of the disruptors. Only various shades of Left here. Left is IN, Right is OUT.
Welcome to the party.

(25,415 posts)Quite frankly, this is the best place on the web to discuss liberal ideas and politics. I have learned so much from all the incredible posters here much more intelligent then me. And they are very supportive, wonderful people.

(11,816 posts)I have a conservative acquaintance, and he's stunned by my arguments. Not that I'm particularly clever, but I take what I learn here, research it, and talk about it when I see him next. He's so 'in the bubble' that he's astounded to hear these rebuttals of his Conservative/Libertarian party line.
This place is an awesome resource.
Also, if you're a true Progressive who differs from the mainstream of Progressive thought on things like Guns or Alternative Medicine, there are DU Groups for that - for instance, I'm not a big believer in Alternative Medicine, so I can go talk to others who are similarly inclined in DU's Skeptics Group.

Look forward to your future participation and again, welcome to the Board!

Not that I'm the great all knowing one, but at least I know the difference between a Dem and a teabagger; and I vote in house elections. (not that I haven't been disappointed by some Dems, but there's still a big difference)

(26,623 posts)They made their friends in the electronic and surveillance industries rich. After 9/11, the flood gates opened and American wealth was redistributed to corporate CEO's, all while cutting their taxes. Shameful! Now they cry debt and are dangerously underfunding government. Shameful and treasonous.

(283 posts)There is not a whole lot to say about the GOP and their aggressive attempts to blame the President for their ugly actions in Washington. The GOP is nothing more then replacement politicians who have done absolutely nothing progressive for our nation. These men and women have no clue that we have a Constitution nor do they care.
The GOP actually is a PARTY OF NO.
Throw them out in November. Also Fox News is their enablers.
