to lend out to business etc etc to create jobs, but instead they buy foreign T-bills. A T-bill returning 7% when you got the money virtually interest free, man, that's a bargain! If they had to give a depositor some interest, at least that would help retirees or build our nation's savings rate. But no, we're only looking out for big banks and big corporations. Christ, they even charge depositors to park their money in a bank in some cases and you damn sure can't get 1% unless you get a 5 years CD or something. It's the same deal with tax breaks - it doesn't go to help regular people.
