Our local campaign office has received zero Obama/Biden signs, but I saved mine from the last campaign. Well, I have two, but one has '08 on it, so I'm trying to color over it in as non-obvious a way as possible. I didn't have any trouble with signs being stolen, 4 years ago, but since there seem to be at even more of a premium, I want a spare.
There are a few Obama signs in my neighborhood, but I'm not seeing a whole lot of yard signs, anywhere, this year. This is a very heavily Democratic subdivision so maybe people just don't see the need? Admittedly, a sign won't sway someone's vote but for me it's a big show of support for the President.

(2,529 posts)I live in Boerne, TX, 87% Republican by demographic and pick up my grandkids from daycare in Bulverde, 90% Republican by demographic. I've only seen but two Romney/Ryan bumper stickers out here and as many Obama/Biden. I can see why Obama supporters are laying low. We get our cars keyed out here when we display our stickers. I still see quite a few McCain/Palin stickers and the occassional W'04 sticker stubbornly hanging onto the older vehicles. You'd almost swear it wasn't an election year. In San Antonio, I've barely seen any Romney bumper stickers either, but I've seen more Obama stickers and plenty of pro-choice, 99%, and anti-Citizens' United. I've noticed they've been mostly on vehicles by younger people. I'm glad we've got a younger activist generation coming up the pipeline, especially in a conservative town like San Antone.

(12 posts)I bought a new sign online and put it out about a month ago. I'm in Culver City, CA. Two days later, someone put a big "N" in front of "Obama." My husband flipped out and flipped the sign around. Two weeks later, someone took the sign out and repositioned it so it was more visible from the street. Last week I got home and the sign was gone. I have two old signs from the last election so I put one out. If this one is taken, my plan for my last sign is to duct tape it to the side of the building out of everyone's reach.

(10,044 posts)but admire your tenacity. There is a lot of hatred for Obama, but take comfort in that there's a helluva lot of support and love for him. You're in the right place and you got here just in time to help you thru the election. We share your anger, but we're going to win in spite of the jackasses...
Hopefully we'll take some seats in the house too...
I guarantee one thing - if you're here during the Inauguration or the State of the Union Address before the full Congress, you'll love posting and reading the posts about the speech and responses. You'll have the TV on and your computer right with it and will love sharing the same feelings with so many people..
Welcome and thank you for the signs.

(12 posts)Last election I had to deal with getting run off the road because of my bumper sticker and having my yard signs taken. I lost two yard signs that election. I refuse to be bullied. Bumper sticker goes on the car Monday!

I've had my Veterans for Obama bumpersticker on my car for 4 years, and never had a problem. I've gotten some postive horn honks and thumbs up, too. And I've been wearing my campaign button for months. But, when I had the Veterans for Kerry one, I did have someone try to intimidate me, on the freeway. That was frightening.
And, Welcome to DU!!!

(2,391 posts)Maybe I shouldn't be, since I'm not that familiar with the area. I just assumed, Los Angeles......
Anyway, I'm in Texas ('nuff said! lol) and used to take in our sign at night. Sounds like they swiped yours in broad daylight. I really like your idea of moving it out of reach. Let us know how it works out.
Keep at it. Good luck and take care! Oh, and welcome to DU!

(47,675 posts)I've got some cool ones from '08 that I'd like to hang on to, but they'll go out if I can't get new ones. One of my neighbors with a lot of connections in the Democratic Party hasn't been able to get any because they are gobbled up as soon as they arrive. That's a good "sign".
