client has used the lawyers services to perpetrate a crime and the client insists upon taking action that the lawyer considers repugnant

You can't undo what has been done.

We've all learned so much about white collar crime and criminals since Trump was elected.

(82,849 posts)There's some incendiary language in there that isn't part of the usual motion to withdraw as counsel in a lawsuit. Lawyers represent repugnant clients all the time, and it's not unheard-of for a lawyer to fundamentally disagree with the client's wishes, but still continue in representation. But it's highly unusual in a civil suit for a lawyer to say that his client has used him to perpetrate a crime. What crime is that, Mr. Marcus? Have you gone to the District Attorney or the U.S. Attorney with your evidence of this crime? If not, why not?

(10,749 posts)When trump is investigated, indicted, arrested, tried, and, ideally, convicted, who the hell will he get to represent him?
Will any (for lack of a better word) responsible law firm take the risk of taking trump on as a client? I mean, sure, there are RWNJ law firms, and I guess these on in trump's contacts on his phone, but these firms don't send their best lawyers. They may not send rapists and criminals, but these are not people who graduated in the top half of their law school classes. Plus, and this is a big one, trump doesn't pay people. Giuliani? Hell, he'll be at the defendant's table of the same and/or different trials. Wood, Powell, Ellis, et al?
I mean, what more or less normal lawyer wouldn't find trump repugnant. I know, lawyers often represent repugnant clients, but I would think trump is just one scumbag too far.
Hey, maybe he'd Better Call Saul.

(51,169 posts)You have a duty to represent your client, and until a motion to withdraw is granted, you are bound by confidentiality. This lawyer is accusing his client of committing a crime and using him to do it.
