It doesn't SEEM to not be a public area they're letting these idiots into ... but maybe I don't understand the layout there.

Seems like maybe those people were held up for a particular reason, like they had flagpoles or some such, and needed to be searched before they could move on?

It is curious but there's not enough info here to assume wrongdoing on the part of these cops.

Except of course in hindsight.
