I'm not concern trolling but...

there's a new line President Obama has been using that I've seen cause confusion in several people and I've had to explain it to them:

He says something along the lines of, "We don't believe that anybody's entitled to success, but everyone should have opportunity and a fair shot." President Obama is absolutely right: Nobody should be ENTITLED to success, but everybody should be entitled the opportunity for success. Unfortunately, I don't think it is something that will be easily understood by "independents." My advice would be the lose the line or come up with a clearer delivery.

Are you saying that Independents are too stupid to understand it? If so, I think your "concern" is misplaced. But, thanks for sharing it.

And frankly, at this point, people who claim to be independent yet are still undecided are probably not going to vote anyway.

6. The first part is unnecessary and can be quoted out of context. Here's what I think it should be:

something like:

Everyone in our country should have an opportunity and a fair shot. That's what our country is about. Then it's up to THEM to use that opportunity to be the best they can be, to realize their potential, to become successful, however they may define success. But in order for that to happen, they first have to have the opportunity and a fair shot.

Very well delivered, and makes absolute sense.

On top of the fact that it's true - we should all have a chance to grab the "golden ring" but are not guaranteed success.
