Should the Capitol Police

Be relieved of all security duties until a full investigation into their failures can be completed?

If so, what agency should handle security in the interim?

1. There may as well have been no police there yesterday...

2. As seen by DOD and others not responding in a timely manner yesterday, the executive branch

police forces cannot be relied upon for security of the legislative branch...

3. At the very least the chief should resign.

Those who enabled and supported the insurrection should be fired immediately.

4. Yes, I don't know who would be appropriate to cover for them. They failed yesterday ...not all of

them, but the leadership for sure.

There needs to be an investigation...

I do NOT condone what happened, but a few points...

- Capital Police seem to be much better trained to 'deescalate' situations - these were not the same 'troops' clearing BLM. Obviously that did not work.
- Some of the 'running away' were retreating to location where they could have backup.
- We don't know their priorities...they did succeed in protecting the members, but not the property.
- They need some physical fitness requirements ... So many of them are obese / out of shape.
- The building needs better infrastructure to lock down areas quickly.

I would not be surprised if part of this was an inside job, but I wouldn't wholesale dismiss them all.

6. Congress has left town until the inauguration

Nancy Pelosi will appoint a new Sergeant of Ams for the house.
Chuck Schmur will appoint a new Sergeant of Arms for the Senate.
Those two people with the Architect of The Capitol(Capitol Police Board)can appoint a new Capitol Police Chief.

7. Bring in a mix. There are recipracal agreements

With many surrounding state police agencies including the DC Police and federal agencies agencies.
