so why are the ghettos the most dangerous places to live?

You have Martin Luther King Day.
You have Black History Month.
You have Cesar Chavez Day.
You have Yom Hashoah.
You have Ma'uled Al-Nabi.
You have the NAACP.
You have BET....
If we had WET
(White Entertainment Television),
we'd be racists.
If we had a White Pride Day,
you would call us racists.
If we had White History Month,
we'd be racists.
If we had any organization for only whites to 'advance'
OUR lives, we'd be racists.
We have a Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, a Black Chamber of Commerce,
and then we just have the plain Chamber of Commerce.
Wonder who pays for that??
A white woman could not be in the Miss Black American pageant,
but any color can be in the Miss America pageant.
If we had a college fund that only gave white students scholarships...
You know we'd be racists.
There are over 60 openly proclaimed Black Colleges in the US ..
Yet if there were 'White colleges',
that would be a racist college.
In the Million Man March,
you believed that you were marching for your race and rights.
If we marched for our race and rights,
you would call us racists.
You are proud to be black, brown, yellow and orange,
and you're not afraid to announce it.
But when we announce our white pride,
you call us racists.
You rob us, car jack us, and shoot at us.
But,
when a white police officer shoots a black gang member
or beats up a black drug dealer running from the law
and posing a threat to society, you call him a racist.
I am proud......
But you call me a racist.
Why is it that only whites can be racists??
There is nothing improper about this e-mail..
Let's see which of you are proud enough to send it on.
I sadly don't think many will.
That's why we have LOST most of OUR RIGHTS
in this country.

For those of you who have never been to West Texas, it's inbred blood red conservative out here. Racism is still the norm, football has precedence over reading and writing, and if you have sex before you are married, it's the woman's fault because she dressed and/or acted like a slut and deserved it. I don't now how many times I've explained to them that BET, etc., Miss Black America started because of exclusion from the regular white contest. Or that whites to have WET, it's just not called that. Whites often take pride in being Irish or Swedish or Italian American. Blacks who know they are from Kenya or Cameroon will take pride in that, and blacks whose ancestors were slaves wound up as one grouping with a common history, so that's how they came be happen to be together as an ethnic group, while whites still have the distinctions from Euro countries they are from.

8. The difference is that "white pride" is almost always used to mean "white supremecy".

I have NEVER seen "white pride" used otherwise. I have NEVER seen it used by someone who isn't a racist who hates anyone who isn't white. THAT is the difference.

14. It's still just shocking to me

I was raised not to be racist, that we were all created equal. Skin color didn't even enter into the equation in our house.


Apparently my Dad was a bit of one, until he served in Vietnam (Army). The story he told me when i was 10 years old went something like this:

This had to be late 1967, Tuy Hoa. He and his buddy were assigned to a guard post protecting the Army field hospital along the beach. A Viet Cong gunship came up and opened up on them. Dad and his buddy returned fire the best they could until they ran out of ammunition. All they could do was hunker down behind sandbags. He said the next thing he knows fresh rounds of ammunition is being thrown into the guard hut. He was able to peer through the back of the guard hut and see a black doctor (at least that's what he thought he was) in a white coat with no protective gear whatsoever, grabbing handfuls of rounds out of the can and pitching them inside. Dad said they were able to return fire until the rocket equipped helicopter arrived and turned the boat into splinters with one hit. Dad never got to thank him, but he said it was the bravest thing he had ever witnessed, and he said that he truly saved their lives. He said skin color didn't matter anymore after that.
