But as for Speaker Pelosi having no technical authority, even if it were the case, which it is not, why bother to mention it as if it would matter? Mr. Sund's whole job is to protect congress. I think it was on Maddow's show. He said the MD national guard was ready to go, but it took over 90 minutes for authorization to come from the WH. Apparently Hoyer called Hogan from wherever he was hiding and asked him to send the MD Guard. Hogan was ready and willing, but couldn't get immediate authorization, then he got a direct call from Sec of the Army with the go-ahead. Hogan wasn't told why the delay or able to figure out what was going on.

It will interesting to see what, if anything, Northam has to say about deploying the VA national guard.

Hours later, a call was made and support flooded in the city.
