if Trump starts pardoning ANYONE involved in the riot, including himself, I think the Senate will definitely remove him.

The are smart enough to see what a big deal this is and that Trump is likely to be charged by the Biden Administration with sedition and they don't want to be complicit at this point, especially when Hawley and Cruz are facing some pretty heavy blowback for their actions.

I mean, as much as I hate McConnell, for he and Chao to agree on her resigning, they must think this was seriously a turning point against Trump and are expecting serious fallout.

and that Biden lost the election for gods sakes. There is no way to deal with people of this caliber. Our problem is that we somehow keep thinking these people are sane.

I don't think they would have a problem with that? That would be the best thing that could happen to Republicans.

'This requires Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, a Maryland Democrat, to bring members back, which folks expect to be announced sometime after the 12 p.m. ET caucus call. Once they do, it kicks off the process for a vote in a matter of days. A simple majority is enough to impeach the President."

Caucus call noon today

But plenty of prep work is already happening behind the scenes.

Remember, this is a process that normally takes months, but they're going to do it in a few days.

votes on their behalf. And the articles have to be drawn up, approved by House Counsel, and sufficient notice be given to schedule the vote. Pelosi can't just put something in the floor and get it voted on today. Even the most fast tracked voting takes a couple of days.

Bottom line - I wish people here would not be so insistent on assuming that the Democrats don't know what they're doing or aren't moving as quickly or as smartly as we think they should or that we know better than they do what they should be doing and how they should be doing. The constant second-guessing is tiresome.

They are moving this as fast as they can and you can rest assured that if they're voting next week, that's because it's the soonest they can do it.

The extra time allows for more pardons, but also allows pressure to build on GOP reps and senators. The delay also means Ossoff and Warnock may be seated by the time the senate trial begins.

At this point, it seems clear that Trump will be the first president to be impeached twice.

There are rules and procedures that have to be followed and a bill of impeachment can't be out on the floor until next week.

But if anyone here thinks they know more than Pelosi does about Congressional procedure and how to get things done or that they can do it better or faster than she is, they're welcome to run for Congress and set her straight.

They have to get input and support from the members on what the Articles of Impeachment will say.

They are also working behind the scenes to see what Republican senators can be brought on board.

It takes time to do this. If they have Articles to vote on Monday, that means they have worked very hard over the last several days.

The second-guessing from people who don't have the first clue about how any of this works is ridiculous.

I can understand people raising questions. But then once the question is answers, the continued sniping and criticism - based in a default assumption that no matter what the Democrats are doing, their doing it wrong or too slowly or not loudly enough
- is bizarre.
