I'm surprised we haven't seen a wave of resignations from elected Congresspeople

I mean, they expect to go to DC to legislate in an office environment, not to be fucking NAVY SEAL COMMANDOS fending off a goddamn terrorist attack launched by the fucking president.

Running for their lives. Barricading their offices. Arming themselves with pens and sticks. Texting their families goodbye.

Threatened with kidnapping, rape, murder.

I mean holy fuck.

I commend their bravery and thank God they have risen to these horrible circumstances. We need them.

But we can't ignore how this is going to have the effect of making sure a lot of people who would be great in Congress never run for office.

with more to follow (probably much more). If you are really smart, you can even trade on your inside information and nothing happens to you.

To which I would have replied; they have no shame.
