A fair % of these terrorists are quite well-to-do? Not your commonly thought of deplorables.
An attorney, several business owners, a CEO, 6 or 7 state legislators, etc, etc.
Something tells me that congressional connection that was aluded to might have been contacting significant donors to GOP.
Why else would these people throw their professions, businesses, & professions away?
Thoughts? Insights?

They are disgusting hypocrites & I see this as a redo of the civil war.
It is not uncommon to hear rednecks ralking about how the south won the civil war. Wtf?
I've even seen people in tshirts saying the south won.
Maybe they teach those lies in schools here. Dunno.
I've witnessed such racist, delusional bs in NC, OH, & TN.
South should not have been coddled in reconstruction.
Same in today's nightmare.
Time to play hardball 100%!

(57,073 posts)But we, or at least I, do not usually see business owners & licensed professionals & high level execs openly committing public felonies & posting pix of themselves doing so.
They more typically commit crimes against humanity by, for instance, voting for repukes or donating to them.
Likely, simply because they do not want to lose licenses, businesses, good jobs.
This is really weird.
Yes, I know... group think. But there is something more going on here, I think.
Maybe blackmail for undeserved PPP $?

(12,676 posts)They're not "throwing away anything" because they can't believe they can lose what "they've earned" through their personal actions; they're saving the Privilege that got those lifestyles for them and their sons - oh, and maybe daughters.

Mind boggling!

The main reason people are so eager to get into certain prep schools and colleges is to make or reinforce such connections.
Look at all the GOP movers and shakers that came out of that prep school where Bill Barr's dad and Jeffrey Epstein taught.

(5,186 posts)I don't understand why a list of cell phone data wasn't collected and these people arrested. The Congressional officials caught on tape aiding the mob before the terrorist attack should be removed from office and arrested also.
The police and anyone involved with NOT allowing backup for HOURS, should be arrested. This was a domestic terrorism attack, and if it had been succesdful... would have ended our country as we know it.
I don't think this is over, I feel it was a dry run, they got away with it, AGAIN. These are our capital buildings being over run with guns, weapons, and angry DOMESTIC TERRORIST calling to overturn our democratic processes along with attacking our representatives.
Round these MotherF_#%ers up, and arrest them, charge them with this insurrection and sedition.
Or this will not stop for decades.
Reprogram these problem people in prison and maybe, just maybe they can rehabilitated.

(5,186 posts)Broadcasting on CNN LIVE youtube last night that was using my kind of language...Domestic terrorists, sedition and calling the republicons out for their part. She kicked ass and named names.
I'm pissed, I drove around my neighborhood and these nut jobs still have trump shrines up. We will have problems if these people are not charged, convicted and imprisoned. They need to be reprogrammed, they are fascist psychos.
Let them know law and order applies to them!

Senators emailing domestic terrorists in action against Congress during the seige, is sedition. Resign and face your time in prison traitors!

She sounded like she was surprised they would push her and mace her because she thought this was all arranged beforehand. It could just be the tone-deaf cluelessness of privilege she was demonstrating but I just get the feeling people thought, or knew, this was going to be easy.

(1,440 posts)Sometimes I wonder if people actually know any small business owners. They all think they're especially clever self-made men (and women) that don't want or need the government to tell them how to conduct their business, especially with respect to non-discrimination laws.
Though I'm sure they donate to politicians, they're not the donor class that gives millions of dollars to political causes.
"Mom and Pop" run a pool business and Mom takes a flight from San Diego to get shot while fighting to overthrow the government. The most surprising thing about that sentence is that Pop stayed home with the kids.

(3,728 posts)There is one way of understanding the many hard to answer questions about humans; one organizational model, the vedic-karmic model
Many ways exist to analyze and explain peoples' choices, nature-nurture, biology, neurology, psychology, affluenza, more. All reveal something of truth. The model of karma suggests desires bring actions, actions create habits, habits steer our trajectories.
Our desires and trajectories can be unwholesome. Confused 'self' is the source of self-injuring stupidity.
I suggest we, as though, see some people going up and some down the karmic ladder.
"Me" crowds out the 'we' in humanity.
Sadly downward bound souls demonstrate pashu-mentality, like dogs fighting over a dry bone.
Happily the upward bound trajectory manifests in truth and reality and morality and good-society.
Big egos make big mistakes.
