I thought they'd just peel off, but when I tried I discovered it isn't that easy. I wouldn't mind just leaving the bumper stickers there, but I wonder if they might attract some unwanted attention. On Monday some guy behind me was throwing a temper tantrum when there was nothing wrong with my driving except that I wasn't moving as fast as he apparently thought I should. He was just being obnoxious and rude. But I've been wondering if it might have been because of my Biden/Harris bumper sticker. So I just want to remove them all, now that it's settled and over until the next election.
How do you get those things off your car?

(102,357 posts)If all else fails, put another sticker over them.
I've had my car vandalized merely because I had a college football insignia tire cover displayed. I no longer display any kind of symbol or evidence of my support. It saddens me, but too many a'holes out there.

(1,724 posts)Adhesive removers such as Goo Gone are ideal for the tedious task of removing a bumper sticker and its adhesive, especially old or particularly stubborn ones. Goo Gone makes an automotive spray gel specifically formulated for the task, and it also can remove gum, bird droppings, tree sap, spray paint, brake dust and asphalt.
Best of luck getting them off!

(86,775 posts)Warming them up with a hair dryer helps but also some kind of oil, cooking oil, could do it. Swab the whole sticker with the cooking oil and let it soak for a spell, it should slide off taking the glue with it.

(67,818 posts)The trick is to first scrape as much of the actual visible part off first so whatever you use can penetrate to the sticky stuff.

(14,167 posts).... hold. The longer the sticker is there the worse the adhesion. Take a single edged razor blade and start a corner. Lift the corner up so you can grab it (make sure the sticker stays warm and peal the sticker back slowly. Any adhesive that remains can be removed with WD-40 or some kind of solvent that will breakdown the remaining adhesive layer.
Good luck.

(1,896 posts)If he passes you he will be on the next bumper. The CDL drivers manual says to increase your following distance if someone tailgates (you do this by slowing down).
Now for the sticker removal. You need a q-tip, a small amount of grease, and depending on what the sticker is fastened to, a single edge blade like a plastic putty knife with a sharp edge for painted areas or a metal blade for glass.
Put some grease on the blade and the edge of the sticker and begin to separate it from the surface. At first you can only easily advance a little before the blade starts to drag. Remove the blade and grease everything again. Be patient. (this works for parking permits, reflective gate decals, passes, etc)

(9,124 posts)Grab a hair dryer, turn it on full blast, and hold it about six inches away from the sticker.
Wave the dryer across the width of sticker, making sure to heat it up evenly.
Use your fingernail or a credit card to grab the corner of the sticker and slowly start peeling it back. ...
