The coup must be cauterized.
Impeachment by the House must proceed post-haste, whether or not a conviction in the Senate and removal can be had before January 20. I do not accept there is a risk the infection of insurrection will be spread by cauterizing the wound. The hole in the soul of our nation made by Trumpism must feel the white hot iron now. Without immediate impeachment the outward flow of our republic's life-blood will continue unabated and quickly drain away the future of our democracy.
So let it be.
