1. Thanks; didn't sound like he was a 'roadblock.'

He said: 'Getting people vaccinated, that’s job No. 1,” Manchin said in an interview with The Washington Post when asked if he would support a new round of checks.

“How is the money that we invest now going to help us best to get jobs back and get people employed? And I can’t tell you that sending another check out is gonna do that to a person that’s already got a check,” Manchin added.

“You know, we have a difference of opinion,” Manchin said regarding Schumer’s promise to move quickly on the checks. “That’s the beauty of our whole caucus. We have a difference of opinion on that.”'

And I cannot argue with that.

11. I'm just highlighting that Jeff Stein, the author of the Vox piece

attacking Manchin, has a history of grossly mischaracterizing quotes by Democrats to make Democrats look bad. The twitter thread I linked gives a number of illustrations if you scroll down a bit. I have no problem with Manchin's position. I'd like to have a bunch more red state senators like Joe.

14. Red State Dem Senators, yes. They vote for their State rather than against it.

Yes. I do recognize the Stein problem.

Remember also, the largest investor in Vox Media is Comcast.
Not sure where their influence draws the line, but I'd really prefer, from here on, to see the drama wording of a biased campaign disappear & truth in reporting become the norm.

Its not really that hard to do.
After 4 yrs of media bs, we deserve to have a break from the OMG style reporting.

Biden isn't even President yet & they're already starting the drama.
Ugh.

9. Nor even a moderate! Manchin is as close to a Dem as WVa will allow

If he gives us a majority then that's still a better card to be dealt than an deep dark Red.

We still have ways to work with Manchin.
Maybe more so now with his long time political collegue, Joe Biden.

12. Sounds more like clarifying WaPo's divisive wording.

Doubt it had anything to do with Murkowski

Glad the clarification was made.

My bitch isn't with where Manchin places his priorities between the 2 crises since he's not against either, it's how the WaPo writer chose word it.

There is NO Roadblock.

They don't need the desperate clicks like Hill or Politico do.

WaPo doesn't have to compete with the type of opinion writers we see on Politico & The Hill.

Appreciate your post

15. We Democrats need to realize that Manchin is the best we can get in WV

We are never going to have a squadish person elected there.

Joe Manchin may be a moderate but he is thoughtful and plays ball with the caucus. Without him, ACA would have been abolished.

Yes, he voted to confirm Kavanaugh - but Kavanaugh would have been confirmed anyway. Manchin won his reelection partly because of that vote.

I wish Claire McCaskill and Heidi Heitkamp had voted to confirm Kavanaugh and they too might have been reelected and saved us from Amy Coney Barret if they had.
