(14,985 posts)Pardons cannot be used to forgive, short circuit, or wipe away impeachment.
And impeachments don't cause you to lose the duties/abilities of your office -- until you are convicted and removed. At which point you're not in said office anymore so of course you don't have them.

(10,145 posts)IANAL, but the impeachment process is outside of the normal legal system. While I doubt he'll be removed, I want to see him stripped of the right to hold federal offices and of all post-term benefits.
