On Friday night, he lost it. And, then, he lost his mind.

The president is “ballistic,” a senior administration official said after Twitter permanently took down his account, citing the possibility that it would be used in the final 12 days of Trump’s presidency to incite violence. The official said Trump was “scrambling to figure out what his options are.”

So too was much of the political universe, which has become bleary-eyed obsessive about Twitter these past four years as Trump used the medium to fire advisers, sink legislative initiatives, encourage social duress and, lastly, praise the scores of MAGA faithful, just days after hundreds of them violently ransacked the Capitol.

In a statement issued by the White House, Trump said he’d been “negotiating with various other sites” while “we also look at the possibilities of building out our own platform in the near future.” But aides did not reveal what plans were in the works. When Trump’s eldest son, Don Jr. offered up a URL to those hoping to keep tabs of his father’s whereabouts, it was a site that had been purchased in 2009 and, in recent years, a place where his books were sold. For those who did sign up, an email was sent, plugging his latest work: “Liberal Privilege”.

but this is not just good, it's needed. Not just because he is the biggest problem in our nation. We need a national reset, twitter is not the place to fire someone, nor is it the place to set national policy. If your are the President twitter should be a place for your PSA's, birthday wishes, and congratulations. I am so sick of the idea of twitter being the place for the president to make an announcement, the president has a full press office, you want to announce a policy change, face the press, make your announcement, take questions. Reactions in the world of people are often of the holy-shit type, never that equal and opposite thing. We get surprised a whole lot, whether it's an inexplicable fizzle or giant in-your-face change from an unnoticed event.

So we're talking about cutting Trump off from Twitter, itself a major event in social media's magnificent, world-shaking, appalling, evolving, expanding clusterfuck of reactions, changes, more reactions.

Its appallingly effective use by Trump to try to overthrow our democracy is definitely a holy-shit effect, supported by most of those whose votes for him could be their last if they got their way. Trump's approval rating among them is reportedly around 77% since his currently failed putsch.

So, what next from de-communicating the depraved leader of a depraved national following? Does his head explode? A pathetic fizzle or national nuclear meltdown? Does he start his own platform and lead the nation into the second civil war or use it to sell fake cancer cures? Or both?

What reactions from the depraved following? A surge in participation in far less visible email rings, "granny cells" fed fear and outrage by the Kremlin?

On the same subject, how effectively will changes by social media platforms cripple far-right groups and their planned armed insurrections across the nation on the 17th, 19th and 20th? And for how long?
