A current image of standing up to a bully

Today on three occasions the debate came up (this last week's one) and in each case the image of being cool, rather quiet (perhaps a bit weary) all the while letting the bully rant and wail and insult and pretty much show themself off as being a bully was described as "channelling Obama" or "acting Presidential".

Interesting that it came up so many times today.

It was a given that Romney was a bully.

I found myself in a confrontation with a bully on Friday and I just kept his image (President Obama'a) in my mind the whole time. It worked for me!

So from these debates we got Big Bird attacked and we have a new image of how to behave around a bully while in public. Just let them reveal themselves by giving them all the attention they grab and demand, all the while looking on presidentially.

Great visual to remember when bullies start their tirades.

I'm proud of Obama for not taking the bait, for letting the rabid Money Boo Boo go on and hang himself.

I could tell Obama was seething, but he kept his cool.

Rmoney acted like someone who boorishly crashed a party and was trying to fit in, Obama acted like he had been invited and was a distinguished guest.

At the core of every voiced frustration I've heard is the desire to "sock it to 'im." Count me among those who was screaming at my TV ... "Liar! Liar! Liar! Liar! Liar! Liar! Liar! .... You goddam LIAR!" At the same time I marveled at Obama's cool. I flashed on the photo of the Sit Room when the Seals were going after bin Laden. Icy. The "no drama Obama" moniker is perfect.

"[font size=3]If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you;
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too:

If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or, being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated don't give way to hating,

And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise;

If you can dream---and not make dreams your master;
If you can think---and not make thoughts your aim,
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same:.

If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,

Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools;

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings,
And never breathe a word about your loss:

If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on!"

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings---nor lose the common touch,

If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much:

If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And---which is more---you'll be a Man, my son!

Every other blog, paper and opinion shaper on TV is saying something along these lines:

Romney’s offhand comment about Big Bird had, well, legs. Google’s top headline on Thursday, following a search for “Big Bird and Will Work for Food sign” generated this: “News: Big Bird will haunt Mitt Romney.”

Poor Big Bird.

I grew up with Big Bird. Since we didn’t have cable, we got only the channels that came in over the antenna, which meant I only got to see Big Bird and Oscar the Grouch and the Count on clear days. (My parents still do not have cable.)

I bet there are a lot of families who don’t have cable because it’s an expense they have cut back on. But they still have Big Bird, at least for now. And, if a child is going to watch TV, “Sesame Street” is a great choice. The show has a mission of education, teaching letters and numbers and language.

Romney and candidates on both sides of the aisle can complain about unnecessary government spending all day, but I advise you to choose your battles carefully. A beloved children’s show character on an education program is not the best choice.

....the ones who are into DRAMA accuse you of not taking things seriously.

It's like, "Don't you see what's HAPPENING????" as they spew out a bunch of stuff that just ain't happening.

This is fine if other people are present but prepare for them to lash out physically as they transfer their panic and rage onto YOU.

Suddenly YOU are everything that's wrong in their life and the rage is,....oh wait,....that was an old girlfriend....
