WHAT STATE ARE YOU FROM? (Hint: hoping to flush out Ohioans and Floridians), but post anyway

I'll start.

I'm from New York. I live in DC.

I can't be in either state, unfortunately on Monday.

If I were in either state, there would have to be something extraordinarily important for me to be doing anything but voter registration on Monday (Columbus Day). I mean extraordinarily important.

Please help kick this thread and tell me why you can't register voters in one of those two states on Monday.

There are many good excuses (I think mine is passable, for example).

But let's all figure out what we can and can't do on Monday.

The best way I can help is to work as much as I can so I can keep donating as much as I can, as well as helping disseminate information via email, knowing that my kids and friends will plaster the things I send (most of them from DU) all over Facebook.

I tried doing it back in 2008 and I had a really tough time. I can't really do suppression because then I get too congested and end up in the hospital. I did my time for 25 years, I had to resign from being the Treasurer and just gave up my last tie to the political world when a judge I did finance reports just passed away.

All I can really do is send a check.

I wish I could do more. Perhaps when I get a lung transplant down the road I can get back to it.

I find it very funny that the (R's) pretty much messed their drawers over the whole deal. I'm hoping we can do it again!

My county was gerrymandered and now the section I live in is tied to Cincinnati over 126 miles away. Little known issue on the ballot will get rid of this gerrymandering I hope it passes. Can not stand conservative republican Cincinnati usually go to Columbus it's about 86 miles.

I have a very good campaign contact in Columbus, and one of our board members spent a great couple days volunteering for him out there.

Mon Oct 8, 2012, 07:26 PM
Oct 2012

go to www.barackobama.com and get set up with the call dashboard.

If you need any help figuring it out (it's very simple), let me know.

The fact is that people generally appreciate hearing from someone from their own state much more than they appreciate someone from the Northeast telling them anything about anything.

That's a really crucial area for the Democratic vote in the state.

I am from 'The Land Of Lunatics.'
I network with a growing group of New Dems and Progressives. I quit working with the useless Dem hierarchy a while back. A friend of mine has been in Dem state politics on many levels forever. The other day she told me the state and national party were useless. I welcomed her to my world.

This state is not a monolithic RW entity as the MSM has you believe. There is that group of old politicians who have rigged the system forever and still have an iron grip. Their corruption is beginning to come to light. The Governor is a moran although the MSM thinks she is swell.

One day there may be a revolt here. It will be in all directions. You will have the Southern version of gangs who will try to take each other out. Secession will have to wait until we sort out our own mess and that may take a while.

As it is, I still work with those trying to form a better and stronger party. I also send money to people such as Warren and Heitkamp in ND to name a couple.

Cheers!

I voted for Obama first time around and will vote a straight Democratic ticket this time around as well

AND it irritates the hell out of me that Heather Wilson ads are on DU...

It sounds like we're killing it registering folks in NC, which as we saw in PA in '08, can really turn things in our favor.

it's become a true battleground state.

He has a real shot, and that's thanks to all the hard work that's already been put in.

Have to keep pushing, as that is the way that victory lies.

I have volunteered to poll watch somewhere in the Florida pan-handle (don't know exactly where yet), and I plan to do all I can to keep my in-laws away from the polls.

My vote seems useless, but after two weekend of voter registration and phone banking, I think we might be surprised and my district might go Democratic.
