What should the political penalty for overt lying to the American people should be?
America has always claimed that its leaders should take special care to be honest. The best examples are two of the greatest presidents: George Washington saying the apocryphal "I cannot tell a lie" after chopping down the cherry tree and "Honest" Abe Lincoln.
This year, one candidate whose initials are MR seems to almost take special pride in his public dishonesty and fooling the uninformed and so I ask DU: What should the political penalty for overt lying to the American people should be?

(11,464 posts)that they now are attempting to say numbers are fixed and the 7.8 is meaningless is just so utterly beyond belief.
The day after Obama wins, Mitt will disappear from political view.
He will not be a talking head (he wasn't before after his 2008 loss)
He will never be heard from again
The best way to deal with liars-
NEVER VOTE FOR THEM
VOTE THE ONES THAT ARE IN OUT
AND MAKE SURE "NEVER AGAIN" WILL ANY CANDIDATE BE ABLE TO DO WHAT MITTENS DID
Folks, we never thought it would be easy and that they not throw everything they had at us.
Their time is at an end.
And never again can we let them win the house or senate or governorships.
After election, we must insure that so many great things happen, that even haters will see the light.
The way the republicantealibertarians are going, are making America a dangerous place to be worldwide, and a laughingstock.
And shame on Jack Welsh. People follow his remarks and business follow. He can cause bankruptcies and market shifts which could cause billions.

That ought to clean up the political "debate" in this country.
