"SNIP.....

“Despite ample warnings about pro-Trump demonstrations in Washington, U.S. Capitol Police did not bolster staffing on Wednesday and made no preparations for the possibility that the planned protests could escalate into massive violent riots,” the AP reports.

“The revelations shed new light on why Capitol police were so quickly overrun by rioters. The department had the same number of officers in place as on a routine day. While some of those officers were outfitted with equipment for a protest, they were not staffed or equipped for a riot.”

“Once the mob began to move on the Capitol, a police lieutenant issued an order not to use deadly force, which explains why officers outside the building did not draw their weapons as the crowd closed in.”

1. Why was there an order to not use deadly force?

Capitol police was supposed to protect senators, congress people, and VP Pence. All were inside.
They could have been taken hostage or killed.

This could have been an attack from a more skilled, effective and determined enemy, and we'd lose a bunch of congressmen and women. The poor cops who tried to hold the line were unauthorized to use deadly force, but had no backup to even defend THEMSELVES let alone the people inside. What an insanely fucked-up situation.

9. The regular officers really couldn't use deadly force under those circumstances

When facing mobs like that, the worst thing an officer can do is unholster their weapon and try to shoot anyone. At best, they might hit one or two people (which wasn't likely and really does nothing when a mob of hundreds is surging at them and won't stop them from moving) before having their weapon taken and used on them. And then the officer is dead or a hostage, the mob continues and it has one more weapon it can use in its rampage.

In instances like this, they need tactical forces with heavy weaponry who can do an immediate show of force

You get the idea.

But the officers on the ground were pretty helpless to do much but try to hold them back with their bodies.

was a huge Trumpanzee... this was an inside job...

with coordination between the white house, the insurrectionist leaders, some members of congress, the capitol police, and the Pentagon (remember all the recent firings at the Pentagon and installation of loyalists to trump... there was a reason... they are the ones that refused to allow the DC national guard to respond... and prevented the Maryland National Guard from responding).

This was all planned over a month ago - probably within a week or two of the lost election.

There needs to be a through investigation and appropriate charges filed. I didn’t understand why he wanted loyalist at DOD. All makes sense now.

weren’t deployed at dawn. They should have been surrounding the building and equipped to defend against rioters who had talked for days about instigating violence. This was so preventable.

The DC mayor said that the NG were not to wear any protective gear that might intimidate the protesters. They were to wear vests that had their names on it and some other things. They were not to engage.

The Capitol was deliberately left under defended. That is crystal clear.

We have footage of the CP opening doors and welcoming the mob into the building. That is not normal, ever, in that building.
