(CNN) -- A uniformed Philadelphia police officer seen in an online video striking a woman after he was hit by a liquid will be fired, the city's police commissioner announced Wednesday.
Lt. Jonathan Josey will be suspended first for 30 days, effective Thursday, "with the intent to dismiss," according to a release from Police Commissioner Charles H. Ramsey's office.
Josey could not be reached for comment Wednesday night.
Meanwhile, the district attorney dropped a disorderly conduct charge against the woman shown on the video, Aida Guzman, Wednesday afternoon.

(16,199 posts)The woman, wearing a black shirt and jeans, is on the left side of the video and has a can in her left hand. The woman raises her left arm as she hops around behind one of the officers. The woman sprayed "Silly String" near the officers but didn't hit them, Latoison said.
Completely unjustified brutality.

(4,507 posts)as was shown conclusively, the woman was "throwing" something (shooting silly string).
Leave it to a major news network to not do the legwork, to not have the facts straight, and to make confident assertions without knowing their asses from their elbows.
It's not that it's important to the core of the story. It is that it's important to this ex-journo that standards for both broadcast and print journalism are so impossibly low that the field is in shambles and the reputation of the press for accuracy is mud.
Way too many members of the press are reckless with their jobs and with their primary responsibilities to inform, to be accurate, and to give a damn about the important role of the fourth estate.
I'm glad the anchor's hair and makeup are well done. Now how about being more than just a high-paid clown?
