Republicans are calling for unity. This is a form of requesting forgiveness.

First , if you want to be forgiven, admit your wrong doing, apologize. Do not at any time say, “I’m sorry if you are offended by my/our actions”. Promise to never engage in this behavior again, and mean it.

If you want unity, act like it. You might want to do this before the Republican Party is legally declared a terrorist organization.

For those of you who truly want unity I suggest you declare your independence from the Republican Party or join the Democratic Party, if they will have you.

Proof of your contrition will be evidenced by your vote on trumps impeachment and or trial. It will be evidenced in your response to Senator Hawley’s and Cruz’s expulsion from the Senate.

You gave birth to an insurrection which engaged in a terrorist attack on our nation. 5 human beings have died in this so far. Several of the arrested have been charged with planning to execute government officials live on TV, including Speaker Pelosi. Every American saw what you republicans wrought, you don’t get to just say, “oh well, that was last week and we don’t want divide the nation now do we”.

Actions speak louder than words...act as you wish to be treated.

They'll be on to another excuse to blame Democrats, soon as they can find one. The antifa BLM narrative didn't work, to many vanilla jumpsuits to go anywhere with that one.

Publicly admit that trump lied, as did all republicans with the exception of Mitt Romney. Immediately remove the criminal in the oval office. Punish every member of congress that went along with the lie. I might be willing to listen at that point, until then, not only NO but hell fucking no! I will never trust a republican.

that they get to continue to engage in their usual pattern of behavior and we're supposed to simply ignore and accept it.

The "Fuck your feelings" crowd is suddenly faced with their own feelings and they expect us to coddle them and tell them that all is forgiven.

beginning with a live news conference in which each Republican in Congress, one by one, stands up and denounces Trump's claims of a fraudulent election. Any Republican unwilling to do so would be immediately expelled from Congress.

From that starting point, they would join Democrats in the fight against propaganda on Fox News, on social media, and on right-wing radio.

And then they would help revoke Citizens United and completely overhaul the way in which campaigns are financed. And furthermore, make lobbying illegal. Make superpacs illegal. No more dark money.

But it's obvious they're not really sorry and won't do any of these things.

They can unite in holding the seditionist members and president accountable. Then the real healing can begin. Sedition without consequences is just a rehearsal.

Then help the Democrats fight the pandemic. Throw your weight behind science. Encourage your followers to get on board. But you realize a successful pandemic response now will help the Democrats politically. So are you going to obstruct and throw hundreds of thousands, not under the bus but into the hearse? I’m afraid we know the answer already.

The Kumbaya plea for unity and reconciliation is a cynical ploy by the GOP. They're scrambling for a narrative to penetrate the public consciousness.

There will be no unity, forgiveness or anything else until Republicans call out Trump and all members who went along to get along. A number of these people need to be expelled for complicity in the outrageous events of last week. We shouldn't coddle seditionists, people willing to break our own government, deface our Capitol and threaten the lives of duly-elected representatives. Minimizing the whipped-up insurrection doesn't cut it. Blaming Democrats for overreacting won't work--we have video. And pleas for unity without accountability should be roundly rejected.

Republicans who supported the debacle need to be shunned and disenfranchised. They're lucky not to be swinging from lamp posts. Back in the day, the past they so fervently revere, that outcome would be 50/50.

No unity without justice. That starts by exposing the truth.

it's been almost a week..it's over .. so what if Trump's patriotic acolytes wanted to kill Nancy and raze the Capital Building..she's still alive and the building could use a little remodeling .. and what's the big deal about a couple of loser deaths anyway...people die all the time and isn't that why god invented cemeteries?..so let's grab hands and sing a little Kumbaya, and consider this little incident nothing more than a busted frat party...we're good, right?

The big money boys are thinking ahead so they can eventually regain power. The recent loss of power is a severe shock to their greedy souls and tRump has hurt their brands around the globe.

I've heard their unity bullshit before, typically right after they lose.
