From my inbox today:
A teacher asked her 6th grade class how many of them were Romney fans.
Not really knowing what a Romney fan is, but wanting to be liked by the teacher, all the kids raised their hands except for Little Johnny...
The teacher asked Little Johnny why he has decided to be different... Again.
Little Johnny said, "Because I'm not a Romney fan."
The teacher asked, "Why aren't you a fan of Romney?" Johnny said, "Because I'm a Liberal."
The teacher asked him why he's a Liberal. Little Johnny answered, "Well, my Mom's a Liberal and my Dad's a Liberal, so I'm a Liberal."
Annoyed by this answer, the teacher asked, "If your mom was a moron and your dad was an idiot, what would that make you?"
With a big smile, Little Johnny replied, "That would make me a Romney fan."

(12,799 posts)too true to be funny.
True story: My sixth grade teacher took a show of hands vote for Nixon/McGovern. I wasn't brave enough to be Johnny. I knew better, but the Nixon vote was unanimous.

(2,391 posts)I live in Texas. In 2000, a teacher at my kids' school was smiling when she told me that my Kindergarten son had gotten into a verbal 'fight' in an assembly over the election because he was a Gore supporter.
"Who did he argue with?" I asked.
Big smile. "The Kindergarten. All six classes!" (Teacher was proud of him! )
I was ! He took on the entire Kindergarten! And not much has changed with him.

(12,799 posts)That is serious courage in one so young. If he ever runs for office, I'll vote for him.

(51,574 posts)I never send her stuff like that, even though she is constantly sending me crazy right-wing e-mail. But I was really glad to have the "Romney fan" joke handy to send her in response to her e-mail forwarding me the following (the all caps and bold are hers):
"ONE OF THE MOST WORRISOME IN RECENT YEARS:
25% OF LIBERALS IN THIS COUNTRY ARE ON MEDICATION FOR MENTAL ILLNESS.
THAT'S SCARY... IT MEANS 75% ARE RUNNING AROUND UNTREATED!"
I couldn't believe she sent me something so hateful, particularly since her own son (my husband) is a liberal as well. And not only did she forward that lame, hateful joke, but she added the following comment (again, her all caps):
"LOVE IT, AND IT'S FUNNY"
I'm thinking she's the one who needs to be on medication.

Where you see "Liberals," simply substitute "Conservatives" and the statement becomes completely accurate and truthful. Just HATE to see all these poor folks stuck lying all the time!

(51,574 posts)She really does wear diapers (Depends).
But I could never be that mean to her. And it would bum my husband out if I said something like that to her.
