Press to do their job on the untruths Romney told

Perhaps the most telling part of how disgraceful the republican party is, was that Peggy nunan, and matalin, said it was not the job of the press to report untruths, but Obama

Then I would ask what good is the press if they don't report the truth

If it means reporting lies, they do it and laugh about it all the way to the bank. Integrity in journalism is almost extinct. Meanwhile, many people still believe the news is fair and accurate (don't some networks claim that's what they are, after all?).

And if you didn't, please read "What Liberal Media?" by Eric Alterman. It details the background of the Liberal Media myth and how it has been used and promoted by right wing think tanks for decades now.

Here's a summary article:

Some of us have been around the proverbial track more than a few times and the scenery gets boring after a while. For one thing no matter how hard you try to be "clear" there is always someone who will misinterpret what you say, sometimes even by accident.

There is no "satire" smilie, there is however a "sarcasm" one, like this .

I actually have an OP up in Meta about the gullibility of a lot of DUers, suffice it to say that if something just doesn't make sense then you should at least suspect that someone might be having a snark attack, it's pretty common around here. For instance anything by Third Way Manny should definitely not be taken at face value, although we probably won't see Third Way until after the election.

and bosses and owners have always tended to be conservative but there used to be a lot more owners than there are now. and that circumstance worked to promote honest journalism.
people want the truth and they want accurate information. given choice, they will buy the product that best fulfills those needs.
today the media is owned by four mega-corporations and their interests are all the same. there is no choice.
these corporations have consolidated their holdings and now efficiently disseminate their homogenized news through partisan pundits.
we get no analysis except that which promotes corporate interests.
and, IMO, it has had a terrible effect on the thinking skills of average americans.

Sun Oct 7, 2012, 04:09 PM
Oct 2012

Friday night ABC had a good report with Jonathan Karl at the Bureau of Labor Statistics. He concluded that comments suggesting the unemployment numbers had been rigged should be considered "crazy talk". He was also on the ABC morning talk show explaining that so many other economic trends were also showing improvement, while Mary Matalin held her head in her hands like her head would explode!

I don't know how the media could speak of Jack Welch as respected when he has been one of the most disgustingly rabid anti-Obama right wing ranters on CNBC for a long time now.

Obama should now realize that the media is nothing more than a tool to use for your own benefit. These dummies in the media just parroted the "conventional wisdom" that Romney "won" and Obama "lost". To hell with the truth and fact-checking, let's just say Obama lost because he was looking down taking notes.
