To Republican elected leaders: There’s lots of talk today about moving forward and “healing.” Here are some ideas for how you can help. 1. Say out loud that America had a free and fair election in November. If you had a winning election, point that out.

2. Acknowledge that Joe Biden and Kamala Harris won the election and will be President and Vice President. Say that, for the good of the country, you wish them the best.

3. Show you understand that the legislative branch of our gov’t was violently attacked by right-wing domestic terrorists. This may not be your fault (unless you are Cruz, Hawley, or one of the others who helped incite this attack) but you can make a difference by condemning it.

4. Don’t just condemn violence in all its forms. Condemn this white supremacist violence.

5. Urge all patriotic Americans, including your supporters, to stay away from violent demonstrations in Washington D.C. and state capitols, so that we can honor the peaceful transfer of power that is the hallmark of our democracy.

Fuck Ted Cruz, Josh Hawley, and all the other enablers.

Oh, and fuck Ted Cruz. Just because he's Ted Cruz. Can't be said enough.

---justice MUST be done. As I said on another forum this is like a rapist saying to his victim, "Why bring the cops into this? Can't we just move one? Forgive and forget I say." If the GOP enablers are allowed to walk think about the message it sends. It says you can betray your country and nothing bad will happen to you. Screw that!

There can be no healing until the tumor is surgically removed and post-surgical treatments are applied.

These people are like an abcess...
...on the body politic. Barely visible on the surface, but a nodule full of pus and poison underneath. You don't make it better by putting a bandaid on it, it will only get worse, unseen.

I've had one on my neck after I got my tracheostomy, and it hindered my healing. After they spotted it, they cut it open, cleaned it out, and put in a bit of gauze so the infection could drain. Only then did it start to get better. The pocket slowly shrank, the guaze got shorter until finally it closed up. Next to my stoma is a circular scar the size of my thumbnail where it was.

On Jan 6th, we as a people found we had a toxic problem growing from within. Reconciliation and unity would just be the bandaid. We have to do the hard thing and root out the big name perpetrators thoroughly. But that's just the beginning; leave a speck of it behind and it will come ravening back. What comes next is the draining. There must be a continuous effort to remove all the rot in our government, no matter how minor their part.

This will leave a scar, and we'll never be the same, but we will heal. Then we must be vigilant against any return.

7. Fully support having Trump removed from office immediately.

8. Renew your oath to the Constitution of the United States of America, in public, recorded on video for all to see.

9. Fully support President Biden and Vice President Harris.

10. Tell Mitch McConnell to go straight to hell.

Then we can talk about healing.

...on January 6, and anyone who tells them it was is at best mistaken and at worst deliberately lying to them.

That dozens of people have been identified through photographs and their own social media posts, and all of them were enthusiastic Trump supporters. None were antifa.
