I am going to say something nice about a republican.

MD Governor Larry Hogan has been a truly stand up guy through the Covid crisis and now for the insurrection.

He never endorsed Trump, even when he was asked about it before he ran for president the first time.

He, along with the Vermont and Massachusetts Republican governors, called for Trump to resign.

He has endorsed impeachment.

He has been on the crest of the wave to get financial relief to his constituents, particularly those directly impacted by Covid shutdowns and layoffs.

He was ready before being asked to send mutual aid to DC in the form of the MD State Police and the MD National Guard. As I write this, more than 600 of our guardsmen are activated and on post in DC, with several hundred more expected to be there for the inauguration.

There is a lot "Republican" about him but on balance, it is easy to see why he remains so popular here with bipartisan support. He is in his final term due to term limits. I never voted for him, I am more glad than not that he is our governor.

Watch him in the next presidential race. I have no doubt he will be there. Sadly, he is, like me, actually, build like a bald fireplug. Tall people with good hair tend to do better.

He sounds like the kind of good Republican that Biden remembers dealing across the aisle with. The real Republican.

I hope he'll run for something else after his term as governor is up.
