(14,016 posts)Impeachment alone wont prevent him from running. It would be nice if some Senate Republicans would grow a spine and vote to convict the traitorous asshole.

(33,643 posts)Yes it would have to include the Senate vote.

Maybe their concern is precisely because it IS business of theirs. If Trump owes Russia or Russian interests hundreds of millions, they have a substantial investment they are trying to protect. If he goes down the tubes, so does their money.

(54,415 posts)They are against a thorough, deep-cleaning investigation of foreign penetration into our financial and defense computers, and into influence, both direct and indirect, into the political goings on in our country. We may already know, or suspect, what they have been up to in the USA.
However, a public airing in the USA might cause other countries, like the UK, France, Spain, Canada, Germany, Japan, Australia, Belgium, and the Netherlands, to check more thoroughly to find if the same hasn't happened to them without their yet having noticed.
Since the answer is probably, "yes, of course, you idiots, it has been happening for years," Putin would prefer they not be alerted to the possibility.
