WASHINGTON ― Capitol Police briefed Democrats on Monday night about three more potentially gruesome demonstrations planned in the coming days, with one plot to encircle the U.S. Capitol and assassinate Democrats and some Republicans.

On a private call Monday night, new leaders of the Capitol Police told House Democrats they were closely monitoring three separate plans that could pose serious threats to members of Congress as Washington prepares for Democrat Joe Biden’s presidential inauguration on Jan. 20.

The first is a demonstration billed as the “largest armed protest ever to take place on American soil.”

Another is a protest in honor of Ashli Babbitt, the woman killed while trying to climb into the Speaker’s Lobby during Wednesday’s pro-Trump siege of the Capitol.

And another demonstration, which three members said was by far the most concerning plot, would involve insurrectionists forming a perimeter around the Capitol, the White House and the Supreme Court, and then blocking Democrats from entering the Capitol ― perhaps even killing them ― so that Republicans could take control of the government

I feared something like this at least a year ago, but whenever I tried to wsrn about it, I was labelled an alarmist and a conspiracy theory promoter. My concerns were based on Trump's ego traits, behavior in office, and books by reliable authors like former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright on fascism and by Kathleen Belew on paramilitary RW organizations.

The usual response that I got was a very confident claim that American militia members were arm chair soldiers and overweight couch potatoes who were all talk and no action.

I wish they had been right. I believe that this insurrection will be put down, but we are in for some rough and violent times ahead before they are crushed.

the vast majority of these play soldiers are cowards who wouldn’t dare shoot if there’s a chance they’d get shot back at or even arrested. Out of the thousands in the mob on Wednesday, I bet there were no more than maybe one hundred who were prepared to kill. That’s not to say this isn’t an urgent situation. It is. There are small elements within them who have advanced training and pose a real threat. But most of these idiots are untrained and don’t have what it takes to withstand a real war situation.

of armed militias, many of whom are former military or current cops, are cowards is incredibly naive and poorly informed.

The videos from the Jan 6 riot show how aggressive and violent mob mentality is, and how willing to kill a large number of those people are. It's not necessary to be in a face to face shooting situation to take out people with the toss of a molotov cocktail or actual hand grenade. You don't need to be an expert sniper to fire into a crowd with a semi automatic. You can disable people with tear gas and tasers, which they have in their arsenal. Wearing combat quality protective armor provides a degree of confidence about one's own safety. Being zealously committed to a goal amps up adrenaline.

A group of rag tag Jewish survivors in the Warsaw ghetto in WWII held off the German military for over a month with smuggled weapons and home made bombs and ammunition. They did mot have heat, adequate clothing, or food. None of them were trained in combat prior to the Warsaw Uprising. All of them were civilian men, women, and children who learned to fight, invent, and coordinate their actions, holding off the Germans so others could smuggle children out through sewers.

They had nothing to lose since they were destined for transportation to death camps. It is amazing what people can accomplish when strongly motivated.

American militias and insurrectionists believe they are losing their way of life, freedoms, and rights. They are filled with the fanatic belief that they are revolutionary heroes, equivalent to George Washington's army. They believe that they have nothing to lose and have a mission to save the nation. They are strongly motivated and they have developed strategic planning.

It would be a much greater mistake to underestimate them than to overestimate them. Denial of a threat accomplishes nothing but false, feel good fuzzies. Facing a threat makes it possible to defeat it.

They must be crushed and completely destroyed because they do have the potential to cause localized mayhem. All I’m saying is that if they think they can take out our government they are sorely mistaken.

I strongly suspect that they are being aided by foreign support in strategy and agents. When we defeat them, they must be crushed thoroughly, with no mercy. Same for any nation that abets them.
