She’s calculated and Machiavellian, could have been worthwhile but chose the opposite path.. for personal gain? A single issue?
Glad to see this step taken by Harvard Kennedy school.

If you only read his tweets and campaign statements, you would conclude that he was ignorant and shockingly dumb. He is in fact a graduate (Phi Beta Kappa) of Vanderbilt and Vanderbilt Law. He has had a highly successful career in the financial sector and beyond, and has had many impressive accomplishments. So he's obviously not a complete moron, but plays that role to pander to the least common denominater of his Trump-loving base. He was just sworn in a few days ago but is off to a reheprehensible start.

a Tea Party extreme rightist who is masquerading now as a moderate who calls all Dems extremists. He's co-chair of the problem solvers group in Congress who claim to bring bipartisanship to government, but this role is only part of his image remake. He wants to run as governor of NY. Reed was also co-chair of Trump's NY campaign.

He opposed the first impeachment, saying there were no legitimate grounds for it and Dems were playing politics with it.

After last week's attack on the Capitol, Reed said he opposed removing Trump by impeachment or the 25th because Trump said a day afterward that there would be an orderly transition.

Reed called a press conference for Buffalo media to make these statements. Buffalo is not in his district, but some of his consituents are in the Buffalo media market. Mostly, though, he's just pushing publicity for his future run for governor.

I don't remember the exact number right now, but it was around 95% or higher in lock step with Trump.

He opposes the Affordable Care Act and voted against it every time. I came across an old newspaper article (Olean, I think) that quoted a critic of Reed saying that Reed opposes affordable health care because his family business is medical debt collections.

But he looks like a "nice guy" and speaks in a soft, confident voice, always flashing a big smile. People seem to be impressed by that instead of paying attention to what he does. In the November election, the Buffalo News, normally a left leaning paper, endorsed him because their editorial said that in these times of division, it's good to have a moderate Republican in Congress. Moderate my ass.

These people - Cruz, Hawley, and the senators and representatives who chose party over American democracy - have no shame. They have no moral compass. Their commitment is to their party, not to America. To their dear leader rather than to the office of the president. That they gained a sufficient number of voters to be elected is a shame that we will have to bear.

That said, if they are unable to abide by their oath to protect and defend the constitution, etc. they have no place in Congress. Or anywhere else in civil society. They must be sidelined and shunned. If they can be expelled, all the better. If not, no committee assignments, no recognition to speak, no invitations to genuine news programs, no quote requests from reporters, and no sinecures once out of office. Nothing that might convey any sort of legitimacy. Harvard was right to do what they did. And it should be the model for similar actions.

It should included something along the lines of “I swear that I will not knowingly promote falsehoods or conspiracy theories that are in opposition to verifiable facts and to the US Constitution or to the democratic governing principles of the United States. Failure to adhere to my oath of office could result in immediate removal.

Then change the rules for removal. It seems a significant oversight that the Constitution does not provide for the recall of senators like Cruz and Hawley, who both advocated insurrection.

I hope he's doing very well with it.

I don't know if you've ever heard Joe Rogan's podcast. He is the undisputed KING of podcasts, and is credited with the current success of the medium. I find his episodes very uneven - some incredibly interesting, some (the MMA types....or standups who really should stick to what they do best) boring or infuriating, but the good ones are GREAT. Virtually any scientist or educated person makes it a very worthwhile expenditure of 3 hours.

If you don't know of it...it is phenomenally successful, often garnering 200,000,000 downloads a month, and making Rogan himself about $30,000,000 a year.

I will absolutely check out AF's offering. Thank you again.
