(9,874 posts)When a lawyer who is not licensed in a state wants to represent someone in that state he must apply to the court to be admitted for that case only, "pro hac vice", and must apply for every case he wants to file in that state. It is done on a case by case basis and usually the lawyer is required to have someone who IS admitted in the state also appear with him.

(9,874 posts)Wood should also be disciplined in his home state and wherever else he may have been admitted to practice regularly. Calling for the VP to be shot should be dealt with immediately and I am very surprised that has not been done yet.

(9,874 posts)Bar associations are for the most part private associations akin to clubs and most do not discipline lawyers in their states (although they do in some jurisdictions). In NJ, for instance, where I am admitted as a lawyer, any complaint against a lawyer is handled by Disciplinary Committee in their home county, appointed by the Supreme Court. Each county committee reports its findings to the Supreme Court, which then orders the discipline in each case.

(9,874 posts)in more groups and organizations than we thought. As we saw as a result of the sedition that took place on Jan 6, they are among our cops, firemen, military forces and even Congress. Apparently we can even add bar associations and disciplinary committees. We are going to have a tough battle to root them out.
I even see people on Facebook using Trumpian code words like "a storm is coming" (Qanon nonsense) who I thought were reasonable people until Jan 6.

(11,564 posts)It was so well-hidden by his flurry of important legal accomplishments. I heard that Ol' Lin came close to winning an objection he raised, and that was just one example from one case.
I'm sure there were others.
