Let me get this straight: Chucky concedes that President Obama is going to get more Hispanic votes, but claims that "enthusiasm" will makes it a "net zero." Really?
Growth in Latino enthusiasm and Democratic vote numbers disheartening for the GOP

Mitt really has to worry about that. He's lagging behind McCain and there are now more Latino voters.
A Record 24 Million Latinos Are Eligible to Vote, But Turnout Rate Has Lagged That of Whites, Blacks
http://www.pewhispanic.org/2012/10/01/a-record-24-million-latinos-are-eligible-to-vote/
The 9.7 percent isn't of the number of registered Latino voters, but of the national vote totals. In 2008, participation was 50 percent of registered Latino voters. From Pew:
However, the turnout rate of eligible Latino voters has historically lagged that of whites and blacks by substantial margins. In 2008, for example, 50% of eligible Latino voters cast ballots, compared with 65% of blacks and 66% of whites (Lopez and Taylor, 2009).

(12,799 posts)I think we'll face a much larger enthusiasm gap in 2016 and that is worrisome.

Am I crazy that I see parallels between this election and that of 2004?
This seems familiar to me, except that this time the other team is on the ebb side of the tide.
I guess it's just the nature of the beast.
It does feel better to be on the upper side of the polls with the other team trying to catch up. In 2004 we worked through the last hour, and still came up just enough short to be denied. I won't borrow tomorrow's trouble. GOTV!
