10 years ago here in Sheboygan County...

There was a big pile-up on I-43 in the fog and 10 people were killed.

Yet every year these pile-ups happen again and again.
I've read people actually SPEED UP in fog! Why?

1. Fog is nothing to play with. My dad was a cop and the worst

accident he ever policed was a night accident caused by fog coming off of northern Lake Michigan. I don't know what horrors he saw that night, but he never touched black cherry jell-o again and he wasn't squeamish. He was a Marine Raider at Guadalcanal, so it must have been unimaginable.

Do NOT mess with fog & RIP to the victims.

2. I believe they speed up because-

the lack of visual cues leads us to believe we are going slower than we are. I have tried it. While driving in fog, I took a guess at my speed-I am usually good at this. I was way off in my estimate.
The rule is-always use the speedometer to determine speed in fog!
