Pelosi problem...

Last edited Tue Jan 12, 2021, 05:29 PM - Edit history (1)

Why the hell does Pelosi not enforce / sanction members who refuse to wears masks / follow House attending physician guidance?

Other members might die due to her inaction! I don't understand it.

EDIT: Good news / finally!

On the morning of Jan 6th, before the insurrection, she banged the gavel and admonished Repukes to wear masks, socially distance, and have no more than 11 members on the floor. The Repukes ignored her and she let it slide.

but my fingers are much more restrained. Let me explain to you that a mask mandate was in place and IOKIYAR was in full display. Now last Wednesday, the Speaker of the House, occupied by the first woman in our long history had the door to the Speaker's office door was battered down off its hinges.

2 legged animals then occupied her office, shit on the floor and smeared it on the walls, sat in her chair, stole the Speaker's gavel, the Speaker's lectern, stole a laptop, caused her staff to huddle under a table for 2 and one-half hours to escape being killed by the mob. Those are only a few of the desecrations that caused her to almost weep on television as she gave a sanitized interview with a hostile interviewer. Her LIFE was threatened and now

YOU want to give her grief about the actions and nonactions of the f*ing republicons? I feel disheartened by this conversation. Our nation was attacked; our government almost fell. They hung a trump flag on the Capitol building. They erected a scaffold to hang the Vice President.

CALL YOUR REPRESENTATIVE AND DEMAND THEY WEAR MASKS AT ALL TIMES EVEN WHEN SPEAKING. WE SHOULD ALSO BE CAPABLE OF DOING TWO (2) THINGS AT ONE TIME.

The first step is for the ethics committee to take this up, and those investigations are not publicized.

Give them time. Let the process work. Believe me, the house dems are angrier than mad hornets right now. They aren't going to not do anything.

I think I recall that when they refused they have to leave the chamber. Don't know if anyone has any control of what they do once they leave the floor. How could they?

rule that everyone inside the building must wear masks at all times. Meaning that they get escorted out by law enforcement if they don't comply. That would have been very easy to do.

Refuse to assign any to committees (I ghink she can do that, but not certain), severly limit their access to common areas on the House side of the Capitol, and anything else that is within her powers.

That said, it's awfully tiring seeing Democrats on this board blame Nancy Pelosi for everything that ails this nation from Trump not being removed from office 3 days ago to Republicans not wearing masks in a House building during a violent siege to the sun not shining brightly enough today.

She is Speaker of the House...the entire house. While you are correct about committee assignments of the opposing party, the Speaker and Sergent at Arms have responsibility for the Health and Safety of ALL members.

Yes, her official title is Speaker of the House. But she is a Democrat. And a Democratic Speaker has no control over which Republicans serve on committees, as the poster to whom I was responding seemed to believe.

I hope that clears up your confusion.

If you reread my response to you, I didn't miss your point and we are in total agreement about committee assignment powers. The argument I made was against your assertion of 'tired of people blaming Nancy Pelosi for [...] Republicans not wearing masks in a House building during a violent siege [...]'

She is to blame for setting an environment over the months that allowed this. As I posted earlier, even hours BEFORE the insurrection, she admonished the Republicans for their floor behavior yet did not eject them or summon the Sergent at Arms to remove them.

Let us hope she gets serious on this before members die from COVID-19.

this has only been going on since the 6th you haven't been paying attention. This has been a longstanding issue since the beginning of the pandemic. Ignoring it and letting it fester has been the issue.
