Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsDO NOT buy the transparently ridiculous premise which most on the right are now trying to
glibly sell as a "given" before proceeding to plead for "bipartisanship" and "unity".
In so many words, they begin their blather with the presumption that what just happened was SOMETHING OTHER THAN an armed insurrection by a mob incited by Trump, Cruz, Hawley and their fellow fascist SOBs and aided and abetted by a SCOTUS justice's wife and about half of all elected Republicans. That is EXACTLY what happened!
"BULLSHIT!", said loudly and firmly, should cut off any attempts at "discussing where we go from here" that does not begin with some sort of acknowledgement of the above.
Buckle up.

(49,020 posts)That is an absolute minimum.
How many of the "unity" hypocrites are saying to their Conned followers: "Go home. Don't participate in violent protests. Stop posting QAnon fantasies. The election was not stolen."

(32,626 posts)who have control of the cameras and the microphones will continue to allow the Republicans to continue talking trash, and not correcting it any way. They will just repeat the buzz words themselves. Nothing changes, if nothing changes. I read somewhere that the police got radicalized after the 'defund the police' posters were seen at protests, and the media latched on to it. After the protests. The killing of countless unarmed black people was not radical at all. That was just, just fine.

(52,277 posts)because other than begging for democrats to do whatever republicans want, they don't seem to care much for unity with democrats.

(2,153 posts)It's a very binary choice. Either members of Congress support the government or they support armed and violent overthrow of the government. Stand against the Fascists, or with them.
Both House and Senate have this in the Oath of Office:
"I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same"
If you support the armed and violent overthrow of the government, that ought to be enough for expulsion from Congress, or grounds for resignation if an individual cannot faithfully adhere to that duty

it's an important distinction - gotta use facts not hyperbole...
