I hated the male ridicule and laughter at my congresswoman trying to give them masks to do the right thing. They sounded like they were in a junior high school locker room.

8. I've been in one active shooter incident.

I was in a restaurant and we all scurried to hide wherever we could because we could hear shots fired near by. Only lasted 15-20 minutes and that was scary enough. Can’t imagine what they went through.

She was born in Guatemala. Didn't become a US citizen until 1992. I don't know why but this sort of personal history always makes me smile. She is a wonderful example of seeking the American dream.
