[MI] Rep. Matt Maddock, wife join conservative Facebook group discussing possibility of civil war

State Rep. Matt Maddock, R-Milford, and his wife, Meshawn Maddock, who is poised to become the next co-chair of the Michigan Republican Party, have joined a Facebook group where members have discussed the possibility of a civil war, decried a ban on open carry inside the state Capitol and hope for a "big cleanup" of elected leaders.

The Maddocks have played a leading role in the effort to overturn Michigan's election results, and the two were in Washington, D.C., when the president's supporters stormed the Capitol building in a deadly assault last Wednesday. Meshawn Maddock helped organize buses bringing Michigan Trump supporters to Washington, and she and her husband spoke during a rally of Trump supporters the day before the violent mob attacked the Capitol. At least six Michigan residents have been arrested in connection with the riot, and at least one Michigan resident entered the Capitol building.

The Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee has called for Matt Maddock's resignation, claiming he bears responsibility for the assault on the Capitol. Meanwhile, Meshawn Maddock has faced pressure to withdraw as a candidate to serve as the state's GOP co-chair.

The group — Milford Conservatives Matter — was created Saturday and has attracted nearly 450 members. The group's description reads, "I'm SO sick and tired of the liberal crap on the other Milford sites ... time we have our own group. I'd love to leave all political stuff aside, but I'm tired hearing from the left especially."

Upon joining the group, Meshawn Maddock wrote, "Lord thank you for this," followed by a heart sign
.

Assholes like them tried to turn Michigan into Michissippi for over a decade and they're "so tired of hearing from the left?" Fuck them. They are a disgrace to my beautiful state of Michigan and to the United States of America. If MIGOP elects that traitor Meshawn Maddock to head the MIGOP, that will hasten the party's inevitable demise in the Great Lakes State. As I write this, the Michigan Redistricting Commission is meeting to un-gerrymander our state. We voted in 2018 to take redistricting out of the hands of the legislature and now it's up to a bipartisan commission. They will probably lose the majority in the Michigan legislature as a result. And not a moment too soon
