It's also the opening day of the TX lege. Dade Whelan was just sworn in as Speaker of the House.

Trump supporters have been demanding unfettered entrance. The TX house does require a Covid test to enter.

Video shows people mostly just standing around the grounds. There are also a couple of speakers at the mike.

CREW reminds us that: Texas AG Ken Paxton also spoke at the protest that later turned into a mob storming the capitol. He's been taking unprecedented action to subvert the election all year...

had a painting she did in school get selected to be displayed for 1 year in the state capitol. If those fuckers fuck up her painting, I'm going up there to unleash holy hell on those trumpers.

He has been playing for a pardon for awhile, otherwise he is going away for awhile. I expect Trump will hold out for a pardon on the 19th of January and string him along.

Abbott and Paxton come out, greet the mob, say over a microphone and loudspeakers: ""we are Republicans and we agree with everything you say!"

And THEN the mob tramples them into hamburger meat and takes over the Texas Capitol, which will end up changing pretty much nothing in Texas.

The US Capitol looked like Keystone Cops compared to Texas Capitol. Excerpts show peaceful protestors on capitol steps. Woman giving a speech against Covid restrictions. She looks harmless.

The protesters are voicing their opposition to COVID-related restrictions on access to the Capitol such as the ones in effect for the session's opening day. They want to see the restrictions lifted and are calling for an end to the emergency orders that have been put in place during the pandemic. The group is also voicing its support for President Trump.
