I am so goddam tired of the calls asking for money. (A Rant)

First of all, I hate it that our political process is fueled by money, LOTS of it.
Night after night we get the calls.

I have explained to the nightly callers until I'm blue in the face that we are retired on a very limited income.
I'm 71, Miz t. is 68.
We do what we can with our time and effort to further the cause.
But we just don't have ANY money to spare.
And we still get the calls.

Miz t. has a soft heart and is a soft touch.
The phone rang while I was out in the kitchen and she answered it in another room.
I walked in to hear "No, we can't afford $25, but maybe we could do $20."
And I lost it.

"GODDAM IT WE CAN'T AFFORD A DOLLAR! JESUS CHRIST, WILL THEY NEVER GET IT? HOW MANY TIMES DO I HAVE TO SAY IT? NO!...NO!, NO!, NO!

Miz t. said to the caller "I guess you heard that. Sorry."
And she hung up.
And I said "Honey, SOMEBODY has to take some responsibility for our financial situation and I guess that's me. You know that food and gas prices keep going up. As does our premiums for Medicare and prescription drug insurance. We still have to eat and drive to get the damn food and medical attention.
How can you do this to us?"

So...great. A pleasant evening for us was fucked by some money grubber. I'm pissed and she feels badly for caving to the asshole on the phone.

I wish the dems had a 'don't call' list.

beg them for money ... that might shut them up.

Keep interrupting them with plea after merciful plea that you are about to have your electric/gas/whatever shut off because of your medical bills.

but my phone rings a lot during the day from marketers, no matter how many times I ask them never to call again. Lately, I've been asking them for their home phone numbers so I can call them at 3:00 am.

I do not answer the phone. If they do not leave a message on my voice mail, then it was not important.

Seconds of "dead air" before the pitch begins. I hang up before any one speaks, figuring a friend will call back. Also hang up if someone asks "Is this (my name here)?"

Have unsubscribed from emails from all recipients of donations - including Obama, and any other Dems who have bought their lists. Mail has reduced to nearly nothing.
