I think they aren't willing to pass a resolution that puts Pence in a bad light, but they are largely done with Trump.

They actually have a really good argument for it too. The 25th wasn't even meant as a way to remove a bad President, just as a way to replace an incapacitated President and allow for a VP to take control of government and then return power to the President when and if he is able. The method for removing a bad, or more accurately a corrupt, President is impeachment.

I think republicans are very interested in convicting Trump and using that to make sure he can't run again. Even if he doesn't run he would use the threat of it to control the party for the next 4 years and maybe more. If they remove him, they are betting they can reclaim the old republican base that they have lost with him.

I think it's much more likely that the part of the base they lost to Democrats (suburbs, college educated, etc) is gone. Instead they are going to fracture their party and we end up with Democrats as the majority and Republicans / MAGA splitting up the conservative voters and making sure that they other can't get a foothold.

Any Republicans thinking they can turn back the clock just by kicking trump to the curb are fooling themselves. By the time the investigations are over, the level of involvement by Congressional Republicans in the Capitol attack alone will be the death knell. The Republican party is finished, and just in time. They've been slowly tearing the country apart for decades.
