Doctors say be aware, there's one COVID-19 symptom that may be permanent for some

The list of COVID-19 symptoms has grown since the coronavirus pandemic began nearly a year ago.

Yahoo Life reports that the long list of symptoms now includes a disturbingly ”wide range of complications” that can accompany the virus.

The report noted that a loss of smell and taste is one of the most common symptoms among COVID-19 patients - especially those with mild cases.

The time-frame for the return of these senses, ranges from a couple of weeks, to months, and in the worst case scenarios some COVID-19 patients lose their senses of smell and taste permanently, Yahoo Life explained.

1. Those wanting to lose weight might kid about those benefits, but I think it would be devastating

for most. But honestly, it is the long-term brain fog that mimics dementia in some that concerns me.

That has me most worried.

Losing one’s sense of smell or taste can lead to overeating to derive some satisfaction from food.

Adding some evidence to your conjecture. Early in human spaceflight it was discovered that no matter what food was prepared on the ground it all tasted like paste in weightlessness. So, they learned in order to make the food palatable to the astronauts so much spice was required as to make the food almost inedible on Earth. Gravity plays an important role in tasting food. Since, taste has such an impact on signaling the body on the amount of the consumption of foods. It's probably safe to assume some people would overeat to reach the level of satisfaction needed to stop by relying on other less sensitive factors to judge fullness.

The senses are very important to eating. It could be because that's why they are there. Sense's primary goal is finding sustenance to sustain life and avoid danger. The secondary, but, important role is reproduction.

Another Australian study a few years ago correlated visual acuity with being over weight. The poorer a person's vision was the less likely they were to be overweight. If you can't find food, you can't eat food. Somewhat counter intuitive, but, that's how science rolls sometimes.

Sorry, couldn’t help thinking about the old saw about a blind pig occasionally finding an acorn...presumably a very slender pig.

Maybe some did over the past several days.

There, now we're back to politics and current events.

As a sepsis survivor this is something I deal with everyday. Some days are better than others and it seems to be getting a bit better after 2 years. I feel for those people affected by brain fog, after I got back to work, my employer did not give a shit about me having issues they just canned me. I even asked for a reduced salary and smaller position, as it was difficult to keep up with my previous duties.

Had Covid in June/July. I lost my sense of smell and taste for about two weeks. My wife still has no sense of smell and has no idea if/when she will get it back. I still get a headache everyday. Before Covid, I never had 10 headaches in my life

All my symptoms are gone except for one - I continue to have phlegm in my chest. Walking and light activity helps and so does drinking a lot of water. But the day before yesterday I was pretty busy and didn't drink much water and that night had a hard time sleeping because I was coughing so much from the congestion. Today the excretions are much thinner and white instead of green, so today is a good day. I still will be calling my Primary Care but they are slammed so know it will be awhile.

6. Try elecampane 30 drops/8oz 3x a day. A product called Lung Tonic (gel caps & liquid) works well.

.

It reinforces lung function. My sister with COPD takes is to maintain her lungs.

Several I know, including myself have chronic bronchitis and taking this during lung congestion means we no longer have to take Z-Pak 10 does.

But it has finally returned (and after he had Covid). The joy he takes now in that scent of coffee in the morning, the herbs and spices that he cooks with...it's wonderful!

Altho he wishes he didn't have to know so quickly if one of the dogs poops in the house...
