(129,440 posts)would have no idea what all 535 members of Congress would look like. Even CSPAN has problems getting the name chyrons up on some members.
They would have to review the footage at different times and attempt to id who was in the frames.

(2,697 posts)And the Bureau has the equipment and manpower to do a very thorough archive search to identify the congress critters -- and as well as the people they are docenting around the Cap. Building. More importantly, the Bureau will then cross-check the tour group against videos and pics of people identified as participants in the attack.
Any videos showing faces of congresspeople and terrorists in the Capitol Building the day before the attack will be used to help the Feds decide who gets charged with what. The congressional representatives, of course, will be in serious legal jeopardy.
Its not popcorn time until the trials start, but there are going to be a lot of trials so get your popcorn orders in early!
May take some time to do all that ID work with so many unfamiliar faces.

(129,440 posts)They probably have that data regardless (as would whoever runs the Capitol's probably contracted-out NOS) but they would need to verify other records of what floor activity was scheduled, etc.). They have to be rock solid before they act (and may even call a grand jury to decide).

(2,697 posts)the individuals involved have almost certainly been IDd already. But this is a massive, massive investigation and the FBI tries to play things close to the vest until arrest and indictment time.

(4,613 posts)one of them was Boebert, based on the photo she posted on her Instagram, then deleted. Shows her with a group of people that some were later identified as having been at the Capitol on the 6th

Boebert, in the photo, was an organizer of the event.

(11,522 posts)SO.... while we don't YET have proof that Boebert met with known insurrectionists on Jan. 5th we do at least know that she's had contact with some of them in the past.

(4,363 posts)if they did lead reconnaissance tours through the capitol building, isn't that treason? Benedict Arnold was caught stealing away with General Kosciuszko's plans for the fortifications of West Point. Very close to the same thing in my opinion. Any experts with a point of view on this?
