They want America back, but Clinton's America. Obama's America. Flawed, far from perfect, but with someone they can identify with as head of government.

I have lived in the EU for many years, and speak nine European languages. What they like about us is out tendency to confront a problem, devise a solution, and figure out why it might work. Here, they tackle a problem trying to find ten reasons why a solution WON'T work. A friend of mine, who was West German Radio News station chief in Moscow for 5 years, always laments about HIS OWN "built in European pessimism," which he just can't seem to shake. He envies my lack of it.

But, I am on the DU so I have the inside story.
I was imagining how the world news would be recording this day.

(54,437 posts)Most countries (including ours) see news about other places through their own lenses. Only ones who have lived abroad or traveled extensively get the fact that there is no "world view," just a lot of local views that are sometimes similar, sometimes not.
