Better late than never, but you, Lovegrove, have for 4 years been complicit. You have blood on your hands. Lives were lost thanks to you and others in your craven, crooked, hypocritical party supporting the fascist in the WH through countless anti-democratic, reckless, self-serving acts. You enabled him in all of it. And with the least bit of clear, honest judgment could easily have seen this coming.

(18,486 posts)Republicans don't have to go so far to acknowledge that Trump incited the riot. But they should be tee-totally pissed off that, once the insurrection began, he did absolutely nothing about it.
That, by itself, is more than enough to impeach and convict him.

(99,711 posts)We can debate endlessly whether or not Trump's speech was protected by the First Amendment. What is not debatable is by consistently telling his supporters the election was stolen and they needed to right it he is morally responsible for the mayhem that took place on January 6th and continues to take place.

(99,711 posts)Brandenburg V Ohio established that for speech to be criminally actionable it has to be "directed to inciting or producing imminent lawless action and is likely to incite or produce such action". Trump as he is always want to do sprinkled in directives to the mob to be "peaceful" while also telling them they needed to protect "strength".
Anyway lots of protected speech is potentially impeachable. It doesn't take much imagination to think of examples.
