... and he argued, without joking whatsoever, that society needed to return to the days of unquestioned monarchs for the sake of "stability".
He was very long-winded while reciting his knowledge of history, but always ignored various details because they didn't fit the model of his authoritarian idealism.
He had served in the Army and enjoyed their power structure as well, but he was kicked out SOMEHOW. He never explained it.

The era of a conservative Republican Party seems distant to me. Much more pro-fascist these days.
