If Biden pardoned Trump, he would just go away?

No he wouldn't!

He would be even more of a saddle sore.

He would regain his Twitter account and continue the destruction of our democracy. He would rule the Republican Party with an iron fist.

The separation of powers would cease to exist. The Judiciary and legislative branches would exist in name only.

Instead of a pardon and unity, Biden should be thinking of justice and accountability.

The truth needs to be pounded into the heads of the cult until it hurts.

2. A pardon

Would FEED the very sickest part of Trump who believes he SHOULD get pardoned.

He’s a malignant narcissist! Even he may benefit if, in fact, he faces justice.

Sedition or inciting. sedition, claiming the election was a fraud, and the he(trump) won, do not indicate a person who merits a pardon

6. Biden made the campaign promise that he would not pardon Trump

He said he would leave all matters relating to prosecution of Trump up to the DOJ. I don't understand why anyone would expect him to go back on that pledge just because Trump has done something even more egregious.

And needs to be held to account. That’s the message to drum into their heads.

Anything else trivializes the attempted coup and trivializes the two impeachment. He was impeached because he is a real danger.

I agree with what you said as well.

open and get away with it than to lie, cheat, steal, commit treason in secret.

Being impeached the first time and not getting convicted is not a loss or a blemish. It counts as a win in HIS mind. Just as lying 30,000 times with no consequences is a win, grabbing crotch and admitting it is a win, having your AG convince most people the Mueller report and Ukraine scandals are hoaxes is a win, stiffing contractors is a win, firing a career federal official the day before he qualifies for pension felt great, cutting a disabled nephew off from family funds is a tremendous win. I imagine he can't go a day without 'getting over' on someone in a way that others can see.

A second impeachment had to happen for many, many reasons (and why conviction should happen). But I have to believe that Trump cares more that 10 'allies' voted against him than being the only potus to be impeached twice. Impeachment, indictments, getting sued hundreds of times...those are just opportunities to 'get over' one more time, feed his twisted ego, and avoid real consequences. So when we are talking about punishing Trump, giving Trump a real personal lesson, or trying to shape what Trump does after Jan 20 then conviction in the senate is the key issue. The gop, history, and the country care more about the important message of a second impeachment than Trump does.

Acquittal in the senate AFTER impeachment will give him more satisfaction than if he had not been impeached at all...just like the first time. Same thing re pardons...he needs them not just legally but to fuel his rotten ego and ambitions to continue.
